Monica Posada MA, LPC.
Integrative Psychotherapy Rooted in Somatic, EMDR & Relational Approaches.

I deeply believe that healing happens within safe relationships. When you feel truly seen, supported, and met without judgment, it becomes possible to approach your story with greater compassion and to develop a more authentic relationship with yourself.

Rather than focusing only on symptoms or distress, my work is to walk alongside you as you reconnect with the healthy, resilient, and wise parts that already exist within you. I see psychotherapy as a deeply human relationship—a safe and supportive space where we can strengthen your inner resources, deepen self-understanding, and create new possibilities for well-being, connection, and authenticity.

Professional Background & Experience

I hold a BA in Psychology from Universidad de los Andes and a Master’s degree in Somatic Psychology from Naropa University in Colorado. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and an EMDR-trained therapist. Since 2012, I have supported children, young adults, adults, and older adults as they navigate life transitions and personal challenges. Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals facing:

Anxiety and emotional regulation
Trauma and past difficult experiences
Grief and loss
Relational and attachment challenges
Major life transitions

A warm, human approach.

My journey as a therapist has been shaped not only by my professional training, but also by my own lived experience. As a woman, daughter, wife, mother, and therapy client myself, I understand how deeply relationships, transitions, and life experiences can affect the way we see ourselves and move through the world.

Like many people, I have experienced periods of pain, uncertainty, and change. These experiences have strengthened my belief that, even in difficult moments, there is always the possibility of healing, growth, and reconnection—with ourselves, with others, and with what matters most to us.

Mind-Body Integration

Our experiences do not live solely in the mind; they are also expressed and stored within our body. Everything we go through leaves an imprint on how we feel, think, and relate to the world around us.

Often, the patterns or emotions that cause distress today began as intelligent, adaptive responses from your nervous system to protect you. My role is to help you explore these responses with curiosity and compassion, releasing what no longer serves you and building a lasting sense of inner safety.

Modalities & Approaches Guiding My Practice

The emotions and patterns that create distress today often began as intelligent ways of adapting and protecting you. Through somatic tools, EMDR processing, and nervous system regulation, we can work together to understand and transform these responses, helping you move toward greater presence, calm, connection, and inner security.

EMDR Therapy
EMDR Therapy
A research-backed therapeutic approach that helps the brain and nervous system process unresolved past experiences.
Somatic Psychology
Somatic Psychology
A therapeutic framework recognizing that our experiences live in both the mind and the body. Everything we experience shapes how we feel, think, and navigate the world.
Relational Approach to Trauma & Attachment
Relational Approach to Trauma & Attachment
Many of our current reactions are not "character flaws," but adaptive responses our nervous system learned in order to protect us in the past.
My Therapeutic Approach

My approach integrates Somatic Psychology, EMDR therapy, and a relational framework informed by trauma, attachment, and nervous system regulation.

Our experiences do not live only in the mind; they are also felt and carried in the body. Our relationships, losses, joys, wounds, and challenges shape the way we feel, think, relate, and move through the world.

Many of the emotions, beliefs, and patterns that cause distress today were once adaptive responses—ways our body and nervous system learned to protect us during difficult experiences. These responses often made sense at the time and helped us cope, survive, or stay connected.

Over time, however, patterns that were once protective can begin to feel limiting. Therapy can offer a space to understand these responses with curiosity and compassion, reconnect with the body, and develop new ways of relating to ourselves and others with greater freedom, safety, and connection.

My work is to help you understand these responses with curiosity and compassion, while strengthening your connection to your body, emotions, and inner resources. I draw from Somatic Psychology, EMDR, and principles of Internal Family Systems (IFS), an approach that supports a more compassionate and understanding relationship with the different parts of ourselves. I also integrate tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), tailoring the therapeutic process to your individual needs and experiences.

I believe deeply that healing happens within safe relationships. For me, therapy is first and foremost a space of presence, acceptance, and genuine human connection—a place where you can feel supported as you explore what may need care, understanding, or change.

Whether you are navigating anxiety, trauma, significant life transitions, relationship challenges, or a desire to know yourself more deeply, my intention is to help you reconnect with your own resources, strengthen your capacity for regulation, and move toward a greater sense of safety, authenticity, connection, and well-being.
